Winter forest

Posted on Januar 11th, 2015

After the winter is already over, time to grab an archive image of better days.
It was a beautiful day, nearly no clouds in the sky, but very cold and foggy during the night. Therefore all the trees were covered with hoar frost. And at the end of the day, the floor fog was lighten up and I could see the setting sun through the trees. The golden sunlight was combined with the blue frosty tones.

The stars and the sunset

Posted on Januar 7th, 2015

The sunset is still glowing, while the stars are already visible.
Here in the lonely wilderness, where the foxes and the rabbits say good night, where you can nothing hear than the blowing wind and the air is so clear, you can see the stars up in the sky before the last sun glow disappeared. There is it so darn cold you can freeze your balls of…
But there are a fandfull brave men, defy the hard condtions to get the pictures and bring it to you on your screen in the warm hut in front of a soft crackling fire.
“Tom Fear knows no Fear…” hmm, I already heard this quotation, who can tell me where?

Time to say goodbye

Posted on Januar 3rd, 2015

Look at this beautiful snow in this great landscape and say goodbye.
Why? Because like everytime when we get some snow, shortly after the snow was fallen, it starts to rain. And after the short rain period, long enough to murder the snow, it will come a long cold weather period. But hey, someone must belove this conditions and go walking with the dog in the dark, foggy winter light through the mud.
Do you think I sound depressed? No, I’m angry! I’ve ordered the snow and danced for it in the mountains, than they delivered it and after feast the toy is already broken? I want my waranty exchange, now, instantly! This is not discussible else I go for snowdancing again, this is a threat!

A last sunset

Posted on Januar 1st, 2015

This was it, the absolutely last one. The very last sunset of 2014.
After my snowdance in the alps, the snow was coming. And how it was coming. It is long time ago were we had so much snow here in the flatlands. But it is so amazing, I can use my snowshoes to walk with my dog. I can walk across over the meadows which are covered with a thick layer of snow. The landscape is so beautiful now.
And in the middle of a meadow I turned me araound and saw the sun a very last time in 2014, because it was the 31th of Dezember so yesterday :)
With this stunning firework tooks the sun leave the last year and therefore I wish all of you a very good start in the new year 2015!

A bloody sky

Posted on Dezember 27th, 2014

I was on my way to the town, as I saw this! What an impressive sky and because of the Föhn I could also see the far alps.
The Föhn is a strong warm wind coming down from the Sahara and brings dry and warm air over the alps. Usually you can see the alps when this wind is blowing. In the Föhn-valleys it’s more a storm, but as a good effect you can see the far away mountains and together with this stunning sunset, what a beautiful end of the day.

Morschach

Posted on Dezember 20th, 2014

Starting early enough to catch the sunset at the Vierwaldstaettersee and we reached the place right in time.
The best season to shoot the sunset at this point will be around the 21. of March or the 21. of September. Then you can see the sun mirroring along the lake. So I marked the day in my calendar for the next year.
But however, the blue hour was impressive too with the red clouds above the beautiful mountains and the purple colors on the water. It was really an amazing evening at the lake and I will go there for more shootings. Next time I go probably up to the top of the mountain behind me, the Fronalpstock.

Dawn in Austria

Posted on Dezember 11th, 2014

The most time in this week, where I spent in Austria, it rained like hell. But then from time to time, the clouds have broken up and a wonderful lightning could be seen.
But beside of the small gleam of hope, it was a boring week. The most time I was reading books on the bed in a small hotel room. As you can see, the next village was far away from this alp. The best thing was the food, it was always excellent, unlike the weather. But then, the weather was getting better, because it was our last day and we left the next morning, hooray…

Escape the fog

Posted on November 30th, 2014

Time to get winter images. While here in the lower parts of Switzerland the gray autumn is covering the landscape with fog, the mountains are now covered with snow and often the sun is shining over the fog cover.
Now I should take more time to escape the foggy area and climb up to a mountain to see the sun again. And it’s cool to take sunset images because the sun is going down early now. But on the other hand, you have to wait very long for the sunrise if you stay on the mountain during a long, cold, winter night. Mostly it is difficult to go down, because the funiculars are not working at all or only until the sun reaches the horizon. And if you think, no problems, there are slopes and you can skiing down – nope! It is forbidden to skiing on the slopes during night time.
And probably that’s better so, because there are snowcats at work and sometime they are using steel cables on steep parts. If you crash into a snowcat or such a cable, well that will hurt.

Alpine roses

Posted on November 27th, 2014

I found these beautiful flowers at my afternoon hike with Bubu. But I thought to me, what a bad light I have at the early summer afternoon.
And so I came back right in time for the alpine glow to shoot the flowers in a stunning illumination. During the sunset is the light so much better than with daylight and hard shadows under a burning sun. But it is also time critical, there are only a few minutes when you see the red light at the mountains until the whole entchantmet is gone, so be there early enough.
If it’s possible to shoot during sunset or sunrise, go for it, even if it’s hard to stand up early in the morning. And belief me, I hates to stand up early…

Fall 2014 – job done

Posted on November 20th, 2014

It was a hard piece of work, but now everything is done and all leaves are dropped. Except some sqatter are still hanging around.
Therefore everything is ready for the winter and the snow can come now. It was not easy to suck all the chlorophyll back to the main storage. And to coordinat all the undocking maneuvers was this year real stressy. After I thought this summer was way too cold and all my fruits were anyway crippled because of the missing light, and I have to prepare for a long winter with too little saved energy.
But then the autumn was way better and I stopped the pre programmed undocking process and worked hard to suck as much sunlight as possible. But at the end, everything was finished early enough for this winter. So folks, I’m going to sleep, see ya next spring!
