The winter is coming

Posted on Dezember 4th, 2014

Soon I can take images of the winter wonderland again. I only have to wait until weather in the alps are better and I can see some stars again.
Meantime I hope there will fall some snow again. The mountains are not fully covered with snow at the moment. But let us hope for a better winter in this season. Hopefully a lot better than the last one.

Bad weather at night

Posted on November 22nd, 2014

The plan was, walking up to the Spitzmeilen hut and making fantastic night shots. The reality was, we were walking upwards through thick fog. The hike was harder and longer as expected and the weather was not like forcasted.
Well it was not as I wished and the clouds stayed the whole night long without the possibility to see not only one star. But after the night was to forget, the sunrise was really stunning. The clouds are blowing away right until the horizon was become yellow. And so I could see a beautiful sky in wonderful snowy landscape.
And for the rest of the day and the next night, were I was no more in the mountains, the sky was totally clear and nicely blue…

Let’s get pink

Posted on November 16th, 2014

The reward after a steep climb and short night was the view to the red painted mountains by the very first sunrays of the day.
I was reaching the peak after the sun was setting behind the horizon. I took some shots built up my tent and took a short nap. Because of the clouds I couldn’t take starscapes. But later this night the clouds were gone and I could take some amazing shots, but more on this another time. After another short nap and this time I was up early enough, I could see the sunrise.
And it was amazing to see the very first rays with the red light and the long shadows over the valleys. Between some shots, I always saw another interesting light scene, I was packing together. And then, sometime while I was running around, I must lost my tent pegs. I was searching like crazy, but in the high grass I didn’t found it anymore. Darn, after this sunrise such a mistake, I picked up my backpack and was walking frustrated back home. But what a surprise! Then I saw the tent pegs lying in the grass, the day was saved! :)

First light over the Melchsee

Posted on November 7th, 2014

After a long, cold night there was a silver lining at the horizon. We had nearly no clouds the whole night long, but now at the beginning of the day some clouds were coming up in the sky.
And this was a good thing. Already now you can see a slightly reddish glow at the clouds and this was at the beginning of the blue hour before the sun was rising. If there are no clouds in the sky during the sunrise, the sky is only yellow and the red color is gone when the sun will be visible.
But this time I was to the right time at the right place. Okay, I was the whole night there, but you can still miss the sunrise if you are not watchful. ;)

The moon at sunrise

Posted on November 4th, 2014

After a long and cold night, I unfortunately didn’t wear long underwear, the sun was lighten up the mountains again.
It was at the Melchsee-Frutt on 2000m altitude and after the good shoes I have now allways long pants with me.  The night was very clear with bright moonlight and therefore the temperatures were falling down although it was summer. With the sun came the clouds and I could take some interesting images while the sun was rising.
And so it was possible to combine the mountain glowing and the moon together on the same picture.

Sunrise at the mountain lake

Posted on Oktober 21st, 2014

There was only short time, but I used it and drove for 24 hours up to the mountains. I had a full programm, first go for hiking in the afternoon, taking photos at night, take a short nap and up again go for the sunrise to the lake.
Then back to home because I had a business meeting at noon. So I was really at the end of my power after these days. But I also had some awesome images taken. And I don’t regret all the stress at the weekend.
Therefore lean back and enjoy the stunning landscape while the sunrise at this beautiful lake in the swiss alps.

The fog lifts

Posted on Oktober 15th, 2014

After the fog in the night the fields and the forests has thick enwraped, the morning sun freed us from the dull gray.
Only a short while later a wunderful morning shones with a blue sky. Who has thought, only a short while ago it was not possible to say where the sun would be in the sky.
And the fresh planted canola is waiting until the spring, when his yellow blossoms the whole neighborhood is filling with the lovely fragrance…

Sunrise in the west

Posted on September 18th, 2014

What? Well, ah, the sun is uprising in the east, but how is the the western horizon looking like, before the sun is coming up on the eastern horizon?
It looks exactly like this! You can see this pastel color gradient, which hides again as soon as the sun gets visible. Clearly the sunrise into the eastern direction is more intensive, but to see how it looks at the oposite direction is interesting too, isn’t it? Especially with this awesome view to the mountains of the Gastlosen.

The morning after

Posted on August 30th, 2014

After only a few hours of sleep, because I had to be awake on time for the sunrise and standing again behind the camera, I could enjoy this amazing view over the mountains.
At the evening before, I was climbing with a lot of luggage up to the Great Aubrig in order to spend a night on the mountain and to see the fantastic starry sky with the milkyway above the peaks. And also to shoot some impressive images with my camera. Beside the exhausting climb at approx. 30°C it was a beautiful climb. And at the morning after, still before the going down, I could get some stunning images of a wonderful sunrise.

Directly into the sun

Posted on August 27th, 2014

After a long night on the Selun, was this the last picture I took, before we left and climbed the burdensome way back to the valley. Actually we thought it would be more easy on the way down, but we were wrong.
It was in minimum as same exhausting as upwards, especially because now was the sun shining. But everytime I’m looking at the images, I think, it was worth it! Mostly is it the same, if you overcome the inner temptation, then you will see it was a worthwile thing.
