Alone in the dark – part 5

I can’t stop doing that…
Even the time is short to reach the peak, I had to stop and take some pictures from the way I came. On the bottom left you can see the lake where I took my first images. And the grass below me, is the gap I took the last images. The light at the horizon should be the Titlis, another famous mountain.
These views are the reason, why I’m always to late at the top, I can’t resist to take images. Okay, maybe I’m also not walking fast enough

At the gap, 800m altitude difference are done and another 300m before the peak.
Since the short glance to the milky way, I was walking between rock faces and then suddenly my view opens and I could see the whole, beautiful bernese alps.
Down in the valley the city of Brienz at the shore of the same named lake. The city lights illuminating the rock walls on the other side of the valley and behind, all the mighty 4000m mountains. You see the Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau in the center of the image. At the ridge left of the peak from the Eiger you can see the light of the Eiger hut, where you will stop before you climb the peak, except your name is Ueli Steck and you take the shortcut over the northface in approximately 2 hours. On the right side you can see the lights from the Jungfraujoch, which you can reach by a train, an expensive train.
But now hurry up, the time is running and I should reach the peak before the morning lightshow begins.

A few steps further, another stop was necessary.
Actually I wanted to walk ahead and maybe take some milky way images from the top. But I was already late and probably I will reach the peak too late for nightshots. So I decided to take an image of the milky way, even the bright part is hidden behind the mountains and I was really shure I will not get another chance for an image of the galaxy. Because the way will leads me along the slope which will cover this side of the sky until I will reach the top.
But now I had an image for shure and I walked ahead to the peak as fast as I could, until I had to stop at the next interesting point to shoot another image…

After a short stop near the Eisee, I was going forward.
I had two turbulent weeks and I found now time again to write the next part about my trip to the Rothorn. I hope next days will be more silent and less stressfull, so I can write more blogs again.
But back again to the mountains, this image is very similar to the last one. Except it’s not a panorama, but it is a HDR like image. Especially for moonless nights in dark regions is it a good idea to take some extra bright images for the foreground.

Now, I have to walk back.
While the sun was climbing in the sky, I was climbing down the mountain. At the begining I was in the shadow of the Wartherhorn but when I was walking around the edge and the sun was a good part higher up in the sky, I was starting to sweat. While I was putting more and more of my clothes in my backpack the sun was climbing higher and higher.
You can belief me, on the top of a mountain and before the sun is visible, it can be very cold. But when the day is starting on this sunny summer day, the temperatures are climbing too. So I was back in the hotel, sweaty and tired, but right for the breakfast. Unfortunately, as you know, it was the day of departure and I had no chance to sleep. Lukily my wive can driving car too, else I don’t know what would happend if I was driving back home
And the conclusion is; if you bring up your lazy bones and go for a hike, even or escpecially at night, you will have always a good reminder of a fantastic time.

Yeehaaa! The sun is here!
After a long night and a steep hike, here is my reward. Slowly was the sun coming up between two peaks. It’s always an impressive feeling to see how beautiful a sunrise can be. Especially in the mountains, where the sunrays are fingering around the peeks and between the valleys.
Finally I get my peak shot and the weekend was saved Okay, it’s not the only good thing of this weekend but it was my personal highlight.

I couldn’t resist…
to show another image before the sun rises. It shows the region I was walking the last afternoon. I like the colors before sun rises and the red clouds. I know it’s a bit corny but I like it anyway
I promise the next image will show the sun at the horizon.

Way enough time, before the sun says hello!
After the last image, there must be clear, that somewhere is a red lightsource. E voilà, here it is! A wonderfull cloudfree sky with all the red tones of a strong sunrise on the top of a mountain.
The tallest mountain on the right side is called Bieberkopf. The peak marks the border to Germany and if you climbed up and stand on the top, you can plant one foot on Germany and the other on Austria and shout out loud: “Ozapft is!”
But let us simply enjoy the sunrise and wait for the sun.

At last on the top!
And enough time til the sunrise, to make some photos in other directions. This picture was taken to the south, where you can see the village of Lech. And no, this is not the sun in the sky. I’m still waiting for the sunrise and I’m doing this not during high noon.
By the way, the big mountain you can see in the image, is the Karhorn, which I wanted to climb but once more the weather doesn’t want it too.

I was wrong, there are still some stars visible in the sky.
Time to look back, where I came from. It was steep and the sun is slowly crawling to the horizon, but at the moment we can only see the shadows of the glow before the sunrise or we wouldn’t see any stars.
Although the trail was steep, the steepest part will begin at this position until the top to the peak. At the border of the Wartherhorn on the right side, you can see the top station of the chairlift, where I took my first shot of this night.
