The work of man

Posted on Juni 3rd, 2015

After the man at work, today the work of the man.
Last time you saw Tom Fear at work, but what was worth it, to take a photograph? The view over the whole Emmental from the top of the Gurnigelpass. As you can see, if you take a closer look, the lights in the villages are still burning. It was early in the morning as the first light was visible on the eastern horizon. Meanwhile I still could see stars at the opposite sky.
Keep always in you mind, if you want to take starscape images, two hours before the sun rises at the horizon, the sky gets bright and the stars disappears, so you should be at your photo spot at least two hours before sunrise.

Panorama view in the Emmental

Posted on Februar 12th, 2015

The golden hour is coming to an end and the mountains become a golden crown.
I insist to go for a doggy walk not only around the corner, but for a more interesting walk with a sightseeing. So we decided to go to the Moosegg. What exactly the right place was to see a beautiful autumn. With all the warm light during the golden hour. It was also a good place to see the whole Bernese alpine panorama and because of the early snowfall a few days ago, we had this awesome sight to the snowy white mountains.
But my little furry friend had no eyes for the beauty of nature. The only thing he was interested in, was his ball.

Bernes Alps

Posted on Februar 9th, 2015

I walked up the steep hill, in the middle of the night, climbed the tall tower and waited the half night to see the sunrise over the Bernes Alps.
It was a bit cold, some degrees below zero and I was waiting until I see the sun rising over the mountains. But didn’t calculate with the high mountain to the east which was covering the sun until the red light was gone. This point is called Blueme (engl. Flower) don’t ask me why :) and it was not so difficult to find. Maybe this position is better for a sunset, when the sun shines to the front of the mountains and you can probably see the alpine glow.
What I like on this image, are the stars. On the left side, to the east you can already see a bright day sky with a single star and on the other side you find also a few stars in the sky.

Morning mist

Posted on Februar 7th, 2015

Peaceful embedded in a fine morning mist you can find this lovely landscape near Berne.
I love this view to the village called Schlosswil at the Emmental region. I can always see it when I go for a walk with Bubu in the morning. And this time was the view especially beautiful with all the pure white of the fresh fallen snow and the pastel tones in the sky.
The only thing why I didn’t take this image long time before, are all the thick power cords hanging across through the image. It is absolutely not possible to shoot any image without this ugly cables. But this time was the mood too stunning to go home without any photo. And at this point, if you ask yourself, what is this moron talking about power cables, I have to tell you: Yes, I manipulated this image in Photoshop, removed all the ugly parts and fixed the landscape, how it should be and I regret nothing!

Early sunday wake up

Posted on Januar 20th, 2015

After a short night, because I read an evil book, Bubu wake me up early in the morning.
He was moaning and I thought it’s an emergency and he need to go for a pee, but no, he only smelled the snow and wanted to go outside to play with his ball in the snow. Well, I was not very amuzed, but it was really a beautiful morning, very cold but the clouds were gone and I could see the blue sky above me and some fog. And then it starts to glow. Because of the fog, the red sunlight was first reflected in the clouds, before I could see where the sun will come up on the horizon.
And so after all, I was happy about my impatient friend, which woke me up early in the morning.

A sun day

Posted on Januar 18th, 2015

Yehaa, the snow is back! And without any dark, pardon, white magic.
While it was snowing very wet snow, the whole saturday long, after a cold night everything was frozen in the morning. While I was walking over the same streets which yesterday they were covered with, we say here in Switzerland “Pflotsch” to the very wet snow, now in the morning it was fresh and crispy. It sounds like I was walking over glass. And how amazing the sun was shining through the fog.

Daily fog

Posted on Oktober 29th, 2014

It’s autumn now, and we are in a foggy area here. And why not take some foggy images? I like this image with the fog fumes which are floating between the hills here in the Emmental.
Yes, it was not a sunny day, but in my opinion this is more interesting than a boring blue sky without any clouds. Okay this means you are a photographer. For sun fans isn’t what they want to have. Therefore if you want to take some images and it’s not a sunny day, don’t give up, you can take some interesting images anyway.

A dull autumn day

Posted on Oktober 28th, 2014

Last weekend I was near the bernese alps, where I wanted to take some sunrise or sunset images. Unfortunately the only day with clouds was exactly this day.
So I beg your pardon, I can only show you this boring image of a dull, cloudy day without sun. It was not a warm, sunny autumn day with all the amazing colors you can imagine. No the fog was covering the landscape while the clouds in an upper layer also covered the blue sky and our mother sun.
Therefore the only mood I can show you is this image of a dark, dull and colorless autumn day… :)

The last warm sunrays

Posted on September 26th, 2014

Before the sun hides behind the horizon, she is sending some last warming rays through the clouds over the hills into the snow covered valley.
So is the cold day yielding a more colder night in the mountains, therefore he doesn’t say goodbye without to play once more fiercly with the colors. As a photographer you are waiting for exactly such sunsets and sometimes you are lucky enough to be to the right time at a photogenic place, like here at the Chuderhuesi in the Emmental.

It seemed it could get a spectacular sunset. Therefore I sat in my car and was driving around in the Emmental, until I found a place where I had a good sight on the spectacle.
Here up by the Chuderhüsi – WHAT? Chudrhlsi what? Yes people, I know, but it calls so. In the Emmental there are some strange names for us lowland folks, but anyway, here up at the Chuderhüsi I found a really nice place were I had a beautiful framing und the clouds were stunning enlighted by the deep standing sun.
